HMR Diet

Well, some of you may know by now that I've started on the HMR diet. It's a serious weight loss diet for people who need to drop 100 lbs. or so. Whooopee! Well, it works sort of like Jenny Craig or Nutrasystem, but it's more medically oriented. You buy meals, shakes, protein bars etc. from them. You only eat what they make except for fresh fruit and veggies. The food is not very good, I must say. Everything they make is tomato based, probably because that's the lowest calorie count sauce, but I'm very tired of tomatoes by now. But, it really works. I've lost 27 lbs. so far, 15 on this diet in the last 3 weeks. It's forcing you to eat very filling, but small portions. Whenever you get hungry you can have anything they make. While the meals are pretty crummy, the drinks are really good as are the protein bars. So, I'm in this for the long haul. The cost is high, so that's an incentive to stick to it as well.

I'll keep posting my progress here.

Hi Bob,
I ran across your blog.

Congratulations you on your progress with your diet. In the end, with this low fat diet and lifestyle change, the quality of your life will improve both medically and how you feel. The data shows that the first pounds you lose make the biggest health changes.

I hear you on the Entree variety/tomato base. Try the recipe book.

I go on the diet periodically as does my husband as we experience sudden changes in lifestyle or just losing focus.

The best thing you can do if you get bored with tomato taste is try some recipes for the Entrees. There are good ones that can add infinite variety and expand your tomato base issue. We buy all kinds of no calorie/sauces at Trader Joes.

I love making roasted vegetables and adding them to an entree. Or taking the Enchiladas (or Turkey Chili) and putting them over lettuce, tomato, vegetables and, for my special treat, avocado. (Regarding avocado, potatoes, bananas - there are no bad vegetables).

When I'm on the diet I eat a TON. People can't believe it. I eat 50 shakes/entrees (mostly shakes) 50 or 60 vegetable cups. For my body size, one would think I wouldn't lose a pound - that I'd gain. I dropped 20 in 8 weeks the last time!

I too love the shakes. I could share favorites galore. I'm about to make one for breakfast.

I work for HMR, and that doesn't mean we came in like Barbie dolls or running Monks. We use the products and practice the lifestyle we teach for our own health. In other words, we walk the talk.

In fact our whole company will be doing a project for a 5-6 week period (twice this year) where you use the meal replacements strategically, eat at least 5 full cups of F/V's, and do over 2000 calories of exercise and track it. We start that project April 1, I believe corporate wide. Wish me luck :)

We are in "over-sized,high fat, meals, rolling airport sidewalks" America, and for all of us, that makes the task of keeping a healthy style and managing weight one that requires diligence and simple changes.

BEST OF LUCK!!!! I'm sure you're in great hands with your program. They can give you some good recipes as well.

I responded as one in the game with you. Not to promote anything. If you ever need a recipe, I can ask around because people are always coming up with great ones! And sharing with us.

Barbara, thanks for the comments. They were helfpul and encouraging. I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't nuts about all tomato foods. :-)

I went to Legoland for my daughter's birthday. I didn't take meals with me because I didn't want to carry them around and eat them cold. So, I had salad and a fruit cup, which worked fine. Anyhow, all the walking in the sun paid off. I lost more and now I've lost 32 pounds total, 20 of that from HMR in less than a month. I can honestly say I'm never hungry and I'm probably going to be arrested soon when my pants fall down in public! LOL!

Hey thanks for getting back and keep it up! Droopy drawers are a fair trade-off for quality of life :)

Tomorrow we start the HMR Triple Imperative Project (it's based on MT recommendations: 2 meal replacements of your choice daily, minimum 5 f/v cups, and minimum 2000. The entire company. I could use a spring kick to get me into higher gear. :)

Great problem solving on the social event!!!! The longer "in the box," the longer you are likely to stay on the diet and lose the most weight. So the best mantra is "More is Better." It works :)

You are doing GREAT!!
